A friend gave me a Sears Tent about 5 to 6 man but no instructions. I found a Tag on the inside of the tent giving the ground dimensions 8’2" x 10’21" it also tells about the fabric the tent was made out of with these numbers:

No 87720

One thing that is confussing is that it has 2 straight poles with U shaped tubeing attached on one end.

It has heavy Loops on outside top center of the tent.

I’m looking for any beach that offers tent camping wifh trail access into the forest for short hiking so we can just hike back to camp.
Come on… I know someone has to have experienced a trail like this along the PCH, anyone?

I have recently purchased a single skinned 2 man pop-up tent, i have used it twice with my girlfriend, we noticed that both times there has been very large amounts of condensation on the walls. The tent is a Gelert Quick Pitch SS, Reg.Design No. 3021178 (If that’s any help at all)

What can I do to reduce the amount of condensation? i heard if you put a plastic sheet over the top of your tent this may help, but i don’t see the physics behind it, i thought a second layer on top would make it even harder for the tent to ventilate.

basically i was wondering are there any laws stopping me and my friends going camping in this woods near me? its like a reservoir with loads of woods and fields around it, and it would be at nite, a small probably 2 man tent and not many people walk that way.
do i need to get permission? i really don’t think any people are even going to notice we are there :L but please tell me xx

I like the looks of the Guide Gear 4 man pop up tent, but is it good quality. If not tell me some more tents that would be good.

I want to get into hiking and camping with my wife. I currently have no gear. What should I buy? I have about 0 to work with. I am planning on camping through 3 seasons, spring, summer, and fall (a little in the winter perhaps). I am going to need a two person tent, his and hers sleeping bags, and his and hers backpacks. I am looking for gear that would take me on 2-4 day hikes. Should go with internal or external backpacks. What’s the difference? Is there a good rain resistant tent within my price range? I’m thinking I would want a mummy type sleeping bag. Again, not sure though. Brand names with reasons for purchasing would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I am leaving in september and going for 6 months. Ive never backpacked before and i plan on going throughout the whole country. My girlfriend is coming with. For anyone that has backpacked S.A. before any tips would be greatly appreciated. As for gear aswell, im thinking of getting a cheap canadian tire 2 man tent, for 29.99 and just a tarp aswell, would this be sufficent? and a 60 litre backpack? Would this be enough? Is there lots of campgrounds to whip out a tent? would it be better to just go from hostel to hostel? As you can tell i have lots of questions so gimmie what ever you got. Thanks for your time.

Right. At the weekend me and my mate crashed a party in the middle of a field, it was a party with about 9 boys from my year, the hot ones (; And we were messing about all night with them and we were getting loads of attention which of course we liked (: But this one guy kept asking me to sleep in the 2 man tent with him so i did cause i didn’t really think it a big deal. We were talking together for hours and i saw a different side of him, he made sure i was warm and gave me loads of clothes to wear (we had no idea we would end up staying so we didn’t bring any stuff) and made sure i was all comfortable and stuff and of course, he ended up kissing me (: But im not really sure if it counts as ‘getting off’ it lasted about 6 seconds and we used tongues and all (; But i pulled away because i got all embarassed and scared i wasn’t doing it right, because im never sure on how to kiss properly. After i pulled away he asked if i was okay but then he got up out the tent and sat down with everyone else. Im not sure if i upset him or pissed him off. In the morning we were messing about and all and he said i looked good in his clothes and everything (; But now i dont know what to say to people if they ask (because they most likely will) Does it count as a kiss or getting off or whatever you call it? I have a sport backpack, which is not designed for hiking.

I am trying to figure out how I can carry my tent on my backpack and how to get a sleeping bag attached to my back too.

Can I use straps or bungee cords? Do I need to buy a special backpack for all of this? I can’t find anything on this on the internet.

I have to bring both the tent and the sleeping bag or I will freeze in October.

Okay this may be long but please try and answer.

My friends birthday is on the 19th and she’ll be 16, and me and a few mates were planning to do a camping out night for her party. There would be four guys and three girls. We are all 15 but a few of us are nearing onto 16 very soon. We were planning to camp out on a recreation ground near her house and there would be alcohol too.

So I said this to my Mum, explained the details…… and she isn’t letting me go.

These were her reasons:
1) Boys and girls, in a tent, do not mix well (there will only be one 8 man tent).

2) My Mum was talking to my friends mum and she said "Thank you for all the times you’ve let my daughter stay at your ex-husbands house." – but she’s never stay at my dads house only my mums. So my mum is concerned that there’s been some sneaking about between us all and she doesn’t know if I say I’m going somewhere and don’t, but I’ve never done that and never will (she’s my mum I wouldn’t lie to her!). Also it seems like my friends using my house as a cover for where she’s staying.

3) She also said that she’s never met half of the people that are going so she thinks if she knew them more then it would be easier.

Is it me or is this a bit over the top? I don’t think it’s a real reason and she’s done this to me soooo many times. Also I have a boyfriend, who she knows about and has met, so I don’t get why she’s concerned about there being guys there.

I dunno, I don’t think I’m too young to be doing that, many people I know go to clubs and stuff so it seems like nothing! Have I go the wrong idea and am I too young?

I am going on a long-term camping trip at a campground and won’t have a car with me, what is the best way to protect my items and tent from theft or vandalism while I’m off hiking, sightseeing and exploring?

there is an out of town party i was invited to. i invited my friend and told him it was a camping thing and he said he wanted to go and he would bring the tent and give me a ride on his motorbike.

that was 3 weeks ago.

2 weeks ago he said he can only get a two man tent and i said " well there’s only two of us so it’s ok right?" and he said yes but seemed weird, so i assumed he didn’t wanna share a tent with me.

so i sent him an email last week asking what time he wanted to go to the party (about 45mins out of town) and if he was ok sharing the tent.

he texted me back 5 days later saying he might not go anymore but would still let me use his tent.

this all seemed fishy to me so i said " ok let me know what you decide." he was also my ride and it was too late to ask someone else since it’s a popular party amongst our friends.

yesterday i texted him saying " did you decide?" he said " i think i’ll go." so i said " ok let me know where and when to meet you."

he didn’t reply. so today i said " i think i’m going to sleep under the stars, so dont worry about sharing he tent but let me know if i can still get a ride."

he said " ok we’ll talk about it tomorrow."

UHHHH tomorrow is the party! I don’t wanna wait around all day to hear from him he’s not going anymore. and it’s a picnic/bbq type party, not a kegger so i would like to be there in the afternoon sometime.

am i being paranoid or should i ask around for another ride?

btw – we’re in our mid 20′s…. i think he’s acting about 16.
