Myself and a friend, in order to raise money for charity, want to go on a 7-day "live off the land" style hike in England. Does anyone have any informative websites on doing this? We want to find a route and go from one end to the other, but we need somewhere where we can just pitch our tents wherever, we don’t want a campsite or somewhere "touristy" – any suggestions/tips/links?

Thanks a bunch.

I am going to be camping in the Canadian Rocky Mountains(Jasper and Banff National Park) and sometimes I need to walk away from it to go on a 8 hour long hike. I would camp at a designated campground some can reserve in advance and some cannot. I will not leave any valuables in the tent but the tent will be staying behind. Any ideas on how to make sure I do not lose the tent from someone stealing it? Thanks!

10 – You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 – You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 – You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 – Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don’t even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

6 – You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 – You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 – You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs — though excluding those in all rival sects – will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 – While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.

No hostility no anger, just a simple list of simple facts.
Refute any of them, please…I’m waiting for your biting wit and razor sharp logical dissection. No? An ad hominem attack is a fairly typical fall back position when on has no actual argument, so I’m not surprised that was the option you chose.
god is imaginary, delusional belief in god is dangerous.

Another insult and ad hominem attack. Sigh.
I’l be happy to tell you about all the biblical prophecies that have come true if you could actually point one out to me.

sorry if this has been posted before, i just ran across it.
10. Like you, I am saddened by peoples willingness to believe in fairy tales, i extend my sadness to include your delusion though
9. not an answer. prove god exists first
8. whether you laugh or not, your answer confirms the point
7 wow…again proving the point. Excusing the "old" god, and "not aware" of modern atrocities. How about Jim Jones, the Inquisition
6 you "believe in the inerrancy" of the bible. Good for you…prove it. The bible is riddled with errors, contradictions and inconsistencies.

1. You may be one of the few who "know" church history. Most don’t. And those that do, interpret it badly.

I am planning a section hike in the Shenandoah National Park in September/October. I’ve studied the maps and SNP guide book. Any information or suggestions that can be offered concerning camping sites near the trail — especially in the Southern and Central Districts — would be appreciated. Since the park can be crowded in the fall I would like to avoid the shelters/huts, especially on the weekends.

In AT guide books, the trail log will mention camping/tenting sites, but the gide book on the SNP rarely mentions any. I am familiar with the backcountry camping requirements and restrictions (the Park has a really great brochure), but I figure those who have actually hiked the trail would have the best suggestions to where to find quite, uncrowded camp sites along the AT.

Thanks for the info.

Brokeback Mountain, an adaptation of Annie Proulx short story, tells the epic and ultimately tragic tale of two gay Cowboys who are tossed together as ranch hands. Living together in the close quarters of a tent as they herd sheep above the Wyoming timeberline. brings out their.(innate?) feelings for each other, The story is poinientky told, well acted and beautifully photographed, It grabs and holds the viewers attention no matter what sexual orientaion they may have or think they have.
But thru a tragic string of events, these two lovers never validate the strength that builds out of a gay relationship and the love two guys can have for one another.
The homophobic male still gets to go home satified that gays and the life style they live is tabboo and to be shunned at all costs and outlawed, if possible. And once again, convince themselves that 2 manly men, especially cowboys, couldn’t be carrying on like that anyway….. Or could they?…. Is it good enough to be #1?

the first one was me and my friends were grocery shopping. then suddenly we were in a huge backyard with tents and a house and these two men in black told us to hide and then they’d kill us. Me and one of my friends hid in a tent and when they came close we went into the house. we went in a room with loud music and when the hallway light turned on we turned of the music and hid against the wall. One man knew we were there because heheard us slam against the wall, and he started comming towards us, and I saw the shadow of him holding a huge knife. I slid under a piece of furniture and he dropped the knife right where I was. It was long and black with 3 diamonds. I woke up.

2: I was in a candy store and looking for my friend, and I saw him running away from me in different isles. I told him to stop because we had to leave, and suddenly I turned around and he was right in front of me holding the same knife from the dream the night before. i woke up.

3: I was in a huge empty room with no windows or doors, and me and my brother started arguing. He started tackling me, and he pulled out the same knife from the past 2 nights dreams, and tried to stab me. I was struggling to keep him away from me, and two men pulled him away and told me to never talk to him again because his "condition was not curable" I started crying and then I woke up.

I think it’s weird I had these dreams 3 days in a row, and consisting of the same knife. I know that people think it symbolizes sex… but I’m only 14. I don’t think thats what it is.
    help?

This one is for ‘whynotaskdon’ because he’s famous for quoting violent quotes from the koran but when it comes to bible quotes that are as violent, if not more so, he remains strangely silent.
    Some lovely examples;

Numbers 16:26 And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of their’s, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
16:27 So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.

Deutoronomy 13 clearly commands christians to kill every person in a city where god is not worshipped and then to burn the city to the ground. Can you see a pattern developing here?

1 Samuel 2 31-34 says that if you anger god he will chop off your arms, rot out your eyes and heart and then kill your sons and grand sons.
There you have it, love and forgiveness christian style.
Oh and for those of you who mewl about taking things "out of context", please, don’t make me laugh.
I’m taking DIRECT quotes from your own bible, how can that POSSIBLY be taken out of context? (Hint: it can’t)
