I’ll be moving in New Zealand in September on a working holiday visa. I’ll be there for a year, and during my stay I plan on doing a lot of hiking/tramping. I have an opportunity to buy an affordable, lightweight Kelty brand tent, but I’m not sure if I need it.
Is it a better value to pay for the huts or to bring along your own tent? Are there any tracks that don’t have many huts?

I’m contemplating a back-country camping trip (hike in, tent camp) overnight in Indian Peaks Wilderness near Granby, CO. Probably will start around Lake Granby. Is this a super-crowded area? How much of a hassle is the permit? Where is the best place to get a permit? And finally– Any suggested camp sites?

My husband and I want to get out for a couple of days, just the two of us. We were thinking Priest Lake campsite, but there thend to be lots of people. Is there anything with a private beach in like the woods? We love hiking, love the woods, and we’d like to have the water close by (some beach so we could tan and do some swimming)…

We are looking for great camping areas north of San Francisco along the coast. We want to stay fairly close to the ocean, have dogs, bikes, hiking shoes and a tent. We will go as far as the Oregon border but hopefully not that far.
We hope to stay in 2-3 different locations with different environments.
What are your favorite camping areas and why?
Thanks so much!

I’m looking for a peaceful place, preferably on/near a lake or river. Hiking and wildlife would be a plus. I do not want a place with anything electronic, like wireless internet, swimming pools, showers, cabins, or anything. I want a real, roughin it, wilderness experience. Any suggestions would be much appreciated =] thanks!
