I have a sport backpack, which is not designed for hiking.
I am trying to figure out how I can carry my tent on my backpack and how to get a sleeping bag attached to my back too.
Can I use straps or bungee cords? Do I need to buy a special backpack for all of this? I can’t find anything on this on the internet.
I have to bring both the tent and the sleeping bag or I will freeze in October.
I am leaving in september and going for 6 months. Ive never backpacked before and i plan on going throughout the whole country. My girlfriend is coming with. For anyone that has backpacked S.A. before any tips would be greatly appreciated. As for gear aswell, im thinking of getting a cheap canadian tire 2 man tent, for 29.99 and just a tarp aswell, would this be sufficent? and a 60 litre backpack? Would this be enough? Is there lots of campgrounds to whip out a tent? would it be better to just go from hostel to hostel? As you can tell i have lots of questions so gimmie what ever you got. Thanks for your time.

I am hiking down to the river, sleeping at a campsite overnight and hiking back up. I have never had to carry a backpack while hiking and I cannot find anything online on how to carry it. I bought a lightweight tent but it is too long for my backpack, so how do I carry it?
Or does the Grand Canyon Park offer tents to rent at the actual campsite so I don’t have to carry it?
My husband and I are looking for a tent to take hiking and camping. The requirements are:
3 Person Tent

Must be a good brand that is durable and will last us a while
Must be well ventilated but also have a water hood…
Must fit in a backpack (less than 6" x 24"
Must cost less than 0
I am looking for a good 2 or 3 man tent. I want is to be small (able to fit in a backpack and easy to put up). I also need it to be good quality and able to keep the wind and rain out. I don’t want to break the bank on it but I am willing to spend good money for good quality. If you could provide a link to a site that advertises or sells your recommendation it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I’m debating between going all out for a four season or not. I have other larger tents but wanted to get one for emergency use. I live in the middle of North Carolina and could easily (depending on the season and where I’m at in the area) need to deal with cold and snow if I find myself in the Appalachians in winter for example. Just trying to decide if a four season would be practical or if a three season would do.
