I’ve been trying to decide on a place to go hiking with a friend for a few days next week, but we don’t have a car, so I’ve been looking for parks that are easy to get to from a tour bus station or train station. For example, one that caught my eye was ??????? tat mok national park because, from what I’ve read, it’s easy to catch a rod song taew there from meung phetchabun. However, just from looking through some maps and photos, it seems like there might be a very long stretch of road to traverse after entering the park before we reach a trail (if anyone could confirm or deny this, that would be great). Not having a car, this poses a problem, since walking down the highway for 18 miles isn’t exactly the hiking we had in mind. We had the same problem at Khao Yai. Too much pavement before you find a trail.
So, I was hoping you guys could suggest me a park that is easy to get to without a car and where the hiking begins soon after you enter the park. Also, I am looking for a park with campgrounds where you can rent a tent, because we don’t own our own tent either.

Me and a couple of friends are going hiking and camping in Red River Gorge in KY in a month or so and I was curious as to what is normally done with your camping supplies while out hiking? Is there some unspoken code of honor among back country campers that they don’t mess with anyone elses gear or is it common practice to pack up all your gear in the morning and store it in a hiking pack and take it with you?
This will be our first time camping in back country where rangers probably wont be around patrolling unlike some campgrounds near high traffic areas.
Thanks

Looking for must-see sights and great hikes in the Banff/Lake Louise/Jasper area. We only have a week to make the round-trip from Vancouver. Is there anywhere along the way that is worth stopping for a day? We are big hikers and want as much natural beauty as possible! Also looking for recommended campgrounds – preferrably tent-only places, but we do like flush toilets and showers. Thanks for your help!

I am leaving in september and going for 6 months. Ive never backpacked before and i plan on going throughout the whole country. My girlfriend is coming with. For anyone that has backpacked S.A. before any tips would be greatly appreciated. As for gear aswell, im thinking of getting a cheap canadian tire 2 man tent, for 29.99 and just a tarp aswell, would this be sufficent? and a 60 litre backpack? Would this be enough? Is there lots of campgrounds to whip out a tent? would it be better to just go from hostel to hostel? As you can tell i have lots of questions so gimmie what ever you got. Thanks for your time.
