So, For now, The trip is supposed to start from Maine (W.Mountains N.P) Or MA (Around Eisner Camp, Barkshires), NY (Albany, Catskills) and NJ (Bear Mt. S.P, N.Y.C) then a plane to FL and back to NY, and I need to know a few things:

Where should I go (Nature and Urban)?
Where can I sleep (Camping, Motels)?
How to travel cheap (transportaion)? Bus? Train? Airplane?
How to go to FL and back? Airplanes are expansive (220$)?
How to eat cheap and vegatarian food (not from the garbage)?
anything special I should take with me? (maybe for the National Parks)
How much does things usually cost in the US? (Tent, BackPacks, Shoes, Clothes Etc.)

Thanks Everyone!

I’m doing something called ‘Operation Escape’ with Scouts, where we go hiking alone in Cleveland for three days and try to avoid being ‘captured’ by the leaders. It’ll just be me and my boyfriend hiking and camping together, so I’m worried that we might forget something.
We’ve got a sleeping bag, tent, first aid kit, food, torch and a stove ect.
Is there anything else I might need?

I want something I can tent camp in, but I don’t want to do any back-country camping.

I’ve been looking at some of the state parks and although they do have tent sites available they also seem to be overrun with RVs and campers. I don’t mind being nearby to other tent campers, but I guess I don’t want to be stuck in the middle of a bunch of RVs.

Can anyone recommend a good place they’ve been camping at? I would also enjoy something with a lot of hiking trails.

One of the first things I have learned when camping/backpacking is to never keep any kind of food inside your tent at all. If so, and one is backpacking, say through the Rockies, then where should you put your food when you are not hiking?

Me and my friends want to take a camping trip this summer. We’re all 16. I’m looking for a relatively wooded private campsite. It would be nice if it was near some nice hiking area with panoramic views. It has to be in New England. We would be camping in a tent, not an RV so utilities are not a problem, just a fire site would be nice. Thanks.

Ideally the campground has swimming, hiking trails to scenic overlooks or waterfalls, a good view of other mountains in the Catskill range, and enough woods that even if it’s not too far from the thruway, the drum of traffic is not too audible.

The person I’m going camping with loved the book "My Side of the Mountain" as a kid, and has never been to the Catskills.

            Thank you for your suggestions!

I am looking for a weekend long hiking and camping trip. I will be going this weekend. I want to find a place where I can backpack and hike. I would like long trails with secluded places to set up a tent without disturbance from other hikers. I would also like to be able to build a fire.

I’m planning a trip this summer and will be using my Specialized Allez Race Bike. Seeing that I can’t hook up a basket, is it ridiculous to use a hiking backpack that stores my clothes and tent and other stuff in? I’m riding halfway to my cabin, camping, then riding the other half and then back (same process). Is there any other way to attach some kind of carrier to the back of my bike for my back’s sake?
