We are going to be taking a short weekend road trip to the Smokey Mountains to see waterfalls, fall colors, hiking, possibly fishing. We are looking for a nice campgroup for tent camping and would like to go see some of these areas http://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/offbeatenpath.htm

Any suggestions?

Ideally the campground has swimming, hiking trails to scenic overlooks or waterfalls, a good view of other mountains in the Catskill range, and enough woods that even if it’s not too far from the thruway, the drum of traffic is not too audible.

The person I’m going camping with loved the book "My Side of the Mountain" as a kid, and has never been to the Catskills.

Thank you for your suggestions!

I am looking for a good park where I can camp overnight — preferably just drive to tent site. Hiking would be great, but I definitely want to be able to access some waterfalls. Anyone know of anything like this? All of the places I have looked at seem to be one or the other… thanks in advance, guys!
